From Saint Sava in the 13th century until today, there have been eleven archbishops and fifty-three patriarchs on the throne of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church. They dined in Žiča, the Peć Patriarchate, Sremski Karlovci and Belgrade. Before us are their short biographies, almost encyclopedic, but enough to at least glimpse what temptations they faced, what burdens they carried. That is why this is one of the impressive ways to briefly present the overall history of the Serbian people.

This edition, which has set new boundaries in the printing and publishing business, is adorned with top-quality photographs, first-class illustrations and original design and visual solutions to which the readers of "Princip Presa" are already accustomed. Miso Vujovic.

On the first pages of this capital edition - which will surely be unavoidable, with other editions of "Principle of the Press", on the shelves of libraries both in the country and around the world - His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Porphyry writes:

Browsing the pages of the book All the Heads of the Serbian Church 1219-2021 took me among those four beautiful temples. In my mind I followed myself as I looked at their crosses and domes, bowed and kissed the icons or just glanced over the frescoes, stopped in front of Pec Krasnica, and stood silently for a long time, long and long in front of some of the arks in which they were stored many centuries ago. bodies of the Serbian archbishop and patriarch.

This time, I did so in my mind, encouraged by the book of Archpriest Jovan Plamenac and a diligent publisher, a friend of Mišo Vujović. It was similar in my young, student days, when I spent my holidays in one of the monasteries in order to worship, prepare for exams and study. But, that simply didn't happen to me in Peja ... In Peja I held the book much less in my hands, because I consciously and intuitively felt that I was in a place where the history of our Church and people was being created, that they were there on marble Serbian archbishops and patriarchs sat on the throne of Saint Sava and presided over the assemblies. So recently, when I was in this patriarchal stauropegy, I stood for a long time in front of the ark of the first Serbian patriarch Ioannicius, thinking about the temptations and decisions he made in the storm of circumstances in which he lived.

And you, dear readers, lovers of the history of our Saint Sava Church and our Orthodox people, when you read stories about the life of one of the leaders of our Church, stop, follow their paths with your thoughts. Let's start with thoughts of Saint Sava, his successor Archbishop Arsenij, the grandiose figure of Daniel II and other first hierarchs who are included in the catalog of saints of the Orthodox Church. Let's look at the life of the restorer of the Patriarchate, Makarije Sokolović, but also the great Patriarch Arsenij III Čarnojević, who spiritually led and revived our family in the regions across the Sava and the Danube. On the pages of this book, you will meet the dear character of Patriarch Dimitrij Pavlović, the unifier of the Church after the Great War, and later our great leaders from Gavril Dožić to German Đorić who with dignity and courage endured temptations, protected and saved the soul of the people from atheism. On the last pages, we meet again the characters of Patriarchs Paul and Irinej, who arouse the warmest filial feelings in me. The pages of this book and the wonderful illustrations that adorn it will become a spiritual ship that shows us through the turbulent sea of our church and national history that the circumstances and temptations in which we live and which we are obliged to overcome are not insurmountable if we imitate faith in the risen Christ. to the strength and love that our predecessors had for their Church and people.

Editor-in-chief of the monograph All the Heads of the Serbian Church 1219-2021. Miso Vujovic reminds that from Saint Sava until today, the Serbian Church has been led by eleven archbishops and fifty-three patriarchs:

    - They led the Serbian Church even before it was called that. They were its people's leaders in the golden age, in troubled times, and in the abysses of history. Where this has always been the most important thing, they have always represented their family and humanity, in prayer and pastoral, managerial and priestly. Even when the Serbs lost their state and freedom, they were dismembered in the provinces of other kingdoms, they could be equal in the miter and scepter of these shepherds. They had something to hold on to, so that the darkness would not swallow them, so that the winds would not blow them away.
